Scientific-research Institute of Introscopy (NIIIN - abbreviation in Russian) was founded on May 6, 1964 by the Decree of the USSR Government to solve the tasks of metal structures' flaw detection and airspace equipment technical diagnostics. ZAO "RII-MSIA "Spectrum" was registered by Moscow registration Chamber on the 12th February, 2001 and is a successor of NIIIN (in Russian it is still shortly called as NIIIN).

NIIIN is one of the world leaders in the field of NDT and technical diagnostic means development. Its general goal is to design diagnostic means that will maintain safety in technogenic, social-economic, ecological and other spheres.

Within the Institute, there are a number of specialized departments developing magnetic, eddy-current, acoustic, optical, thermal, radiographic, penetrant, vibrodiagnostic and other instruments for tests and diagnostics. In one of the leading departments, they design X-ray systems for medical diagnostics. The range of manufactured products is above 100 different types.
